Grace:
“I always say to others that my sight loss journey really began when I attended BlindAid’s creative writing at their community project
For the first time I was being heard through my words on paper
I did not know that there were people interested in where I had come from, where I had been
I feel so safe in the company of staff and the other members
I am not seen as person with a disability but as a person who can achieve whatever I want too
I have grown in confidence, become much more independent , have learnt to respect and cherish myself.
This is all through the support and kindness of people who really care about me – staff and volunteers alike
I am not just a name on paper but I am someone who has a face to BlindAid”
